EMS Coordinator at Methodist Hospitals

Tom Fentress is currently employed as the EMS coordinator for The Methodist Hospitals in Gary, Indiana. Tom holds certifications as a paramedic with the National Registry of EMTs and the state of Indiana, a primary instructor for the state of Indiana and many certifications in the fire service. Along with being a paramedic, Tom is a volunteer firefighter with Keener Township Vol. Fire Dept. in Demotte, Indiana. He currently holds the position of captain and training officer for the fire department.

He holds a bachelor’s of science degree with a major in elementary education from Purdue University, where he played baseball and basketball. He is pursuing his masters of business administration from Indiana Wesleyan University. He is married with four children, lives in Demotte, and serves as the vice president on the local soccer association board. Tom enjoys traveling with his family and relaxing in his downtime. 

Tom started in EMS in 2005 as a part-time EMT. After the recession, he wanted to find a secure future; he decided to make a career in the medical field. Starting as a full-time EMT, he felt that he could do much more to assist with patient care. He went onto paramedic school at Methodist Hospitals, graduating in 2010. He has held many positions in fire and EMS. He is currently a captain and training officer with Keener Twp. Fire Dept. His love for teaching and helping others landed him an opportunity as the EMS instructor at Methodist Hospitals. Tom was promoted to EMS coordinator in June, 2014, which he currently serves.
