Jason Hums


Assistant Professor for Southwestern Community College

Jason Hums, MPH, BSN, is an assistant professor of paramedic for Southwestern Community College in Chula Vista, Ca. Previously, he was field operations manager for Air Methods of Southern California and Nevada and manager for Lifeline Helicopter and Medical Communications for OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center.

Previously, he spent several years as a ground and flight paramedic, a surgical intensive care unit registered nurse and an instructor. He is a national speaker and published author, and he's a member of the Alpha Eta National Allied Health Honor Society and the American Public Health Association. He served as president and on the board of directors for the International Association of Flight Paramedics.

He's a reviewer for the American Journal of Nursing, and he served as a reviewer for Emergency Newborn Care: The first moments of life, the Critical Care Emergency Medical Transport Program 2002, and the Pediatric and Neonate Critical Care Transport Program 2002.
